(Port) Wine of the month March 2023: Quinta do Vallado Tributa & ABF

In the past I was able to taste these wines at very few occasions, but never side by side and in addition to so many other great old Tawnies from the Douro Boys.
Tributa: Green-golden reflections in the almost tight color. Coffee, honey, a hint of raisin in the bouquet. The palate is fantastically stabilized by the acidity. Deep and complex layers of coffee, chocolate and tobacco, paired with all kinds of spices on the side. Long aftertaste. 19/20
ABF: Impossible to see through this dark-red color with little reflections. Deep and complex bouquet, but very balanced mix of spices, coffee, malty notes. Some hints of nuts and dates in the end. The amazing complexity continues in the palate with a perfectly stabilizing acidity which produces a roller-coaster between sweetness and acidity. Coffee, rustic liquorice, chocolate. The multi-layered aftertaste goes on forever. 20/20
